Biography
Dr. Nakisa Kiai is a child and adolescent psychiatrist dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children, adolescents, and their families. She is passionate about fostering resilience, connection, and purpose in young people, and hopes to empower youth to become agents of positive change within their communities.
Dr. Kiai integrates creative, holistic, and evidence-based methods into her practice, weaving together mindfulness, medication management, and yoga-based interventions. During her fellowship training, she designed a trauma-informed yoga curriculum specifically for minoritized teenagers, centering body-based healing, emotional regulation, and culturally responsive care.
Clinically, Dr. Kiai has extensive training across modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Family Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). She is also trained in the subspecialty arenas of early psychosis, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, autism, and ADHD. Her professional interests lie in community mental health, with a strong commitment to improving care for individuals and families experiencing serious mental illness. She is deeply dedicated to expanding mental health access for underserved and underrepresented communities, particularly youth.
