Tyler Torrico, MD

Dr. Torrico is passionate about community psychiatry and works to widen the accessibility of high quality mental health treatments. He has extensive experience in different psychiatric settings including inpatient, outpatient, and research. He has been the medical director of the largest psychiatric hospital in Northern California and has been active in psychiatric research since his training.

He has research interests in treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders and the expansion of psychiatric services. Dr. Torrico's developed clinical interest for the developing psychiatric subspeciality of interventional psychiatry, which includes treating psychiatric disorders with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and intravenous ketamine. He completed his interventional psychiatry training at the National Institute of Mental Health, mentored by leaders in the field for each of the modalities, including Sarah H. Lisanby, William T. Regenold, and Carlos Zarate.

Dr. Torrico's recent research initiatives include the novel integration of accelerated TMS treatments into the psychiatry consultation-liaison setting which expands interventional psychiatry access to patients with serious medical comorbidities. Dr. Torrico has extensive verified peer review credits for multiple major psychiatry scientific journals including the American Journal of Psychiatry, Journal of ECT, Frontiers in Psychiatry and more.
